About D7 Visa
Meet the Portugal D7 Visa
The Portugal D7 Visa, also referred to as the Portugal Passive Income Visa or the Portugal Retirement Visa, offers legal Portuguese residency to non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens seeking to relocate to Portugal. 😊
What is the Portugal D7 Visa?
The Portugal D7 Visa is for people who have a steady passive income and can support themselves without working in Portugal. Your income should be at least equal to Portugal’s yearly minimum wage.
Passive income can include things like pensions, rent from property, dividends, or interest from savings. This visa is a good option for retirees or anyone who wants to live in Portugal without needing a job there.
Benefits of the Portugal D7 Visa
You can enter Portugal and travel freely in the Schengen Area without extra visas.
You can also bring your family members with you.
You get access to Portugal’s affordable healthcare and education.
After five years of living in Portugal, you can apply for Portuguese citizenship or permanent residency (you and any family members who came with you).

What are the main requirements for the D7 Visa in Portugal?
In addition to being a non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizen and having a clean criminal record, you must show that your passive income and savings come from one of the following sources:
Pensions: Regular pension payments from your home country.
Rentals: Money earned from renting out property.
Investments: Income from dividends, interest, or other investments.
How much should I have on my savings account for my Portuguese D7 visa application?
It depends on your application.
You need to show that you have the required amount of savings (or more), and this money must be in your Portuguese bank account before your visa appointment. You also have to prove that your yearly income meets the minimum requirement.
A full annual Portuguese minimum wage 💸:
10.440,00 euros, in savings at your Portuguese bank account.
Add 50% to the full annual minimum wage 💸:
5.220,00 euros, totalling 15.660,00 euros, in savings at your Portuguese bank account.
Add 30% for each dependent minor 💸:
3.132,00 euros, added to your savings at your Portuguese bank account.
So, basically, a family of 2 spouses (10.440,00 + 5.220,00) and 2 children (3.132,00 + 3.132,00) would need proof of savings available in a Portuguese bank account before your visa appointment.
